Ever since, the human came into being, the need of recipes is there. Earlier, humans were not aware of different spices, but as the time goes on, they started using different procedures.
This made some food procedure, developed in the shape of recipes.
Ancient Egypt
Egyptians have been using different forms of meat like geese, seafood (fish) and duck, vegetables like lettuce, onion etc and fruits like melon, dates and figs
They grew their own herbs and spices and made cooking oil for recipes. Moreover, they made beer from crumbled barley bread and barley with water
Roman BritainRomans were the pioneers in introducing the foods in Britain.
Different types of vegetables were their daily meal and they nourished themselves with their frequent use.
Various vegetables were used by Roman Britain, but they liked fish sauce called liquamen
SaxonThere was not much variety for food in Saxon England and they mostly relied on bread, butter, cheese and beer. The ordinary inhabitants mostly used plain food recipes because they had limited options in their meal
Middle AgesAs time moved on, people came up with new ideas about recipes, and those recipes were used for beef and venison. Luxurious food like meat was only for rich people whereas middle class and poor people used dull and simple food in their diet
Dark bread and cheese was common diet for them
AztecPeople in Central America baked maize flour in the form of pancake, named as tortilla.
More recipes include atole, tamales, octli and pulgue etc
16th-18th CenturyAs 16th century dawned, meat was still rich people’s food and was not in access of other ones. Poor people were using vegetables.
There was a difference in quality of bread, which was eaten by people.
17th century brought new items into food catalogue like bananas, tea, ice-cream and chocolate. Tea got an important place in drinking items during 18th century
Later eras:19th century started with different variations in recipes like wide use of butter, bread and tomatoes for working class. Meat form butcher shop was a lavish food option.
In 1860s, Britain had some chips shops and fish shops. The margarine was introduced in 1870
1900 came with the tradition of families sitting together on dining table with cup of tea and some other snacks.
Sweets were added to food list in early 19th century, and they became cheap with time.
Hamburger and pizza came in 1980 and still are in use as daily food items.
Moreover, at the end of 20th century, people started using genetically modified food in their recipes.
